Reimagining Social Justice by Dr. A. Subhashini & Jerom Stuward J
About The Book
This book, Reimagining Social Justice: Law, Culture, and Transformative Change in India, emerges from a shared conviction that law is not merely a system of rules but a living instrument of change that can dismantle inequities, empower the voiceless, and shape the destiny of future generations,
The work presented here is both analytical and reflective. It examines the theoretical foundations of law through sociological and philosophical lenses, traces the constitutional vision of justice, and explores how legal institutions have engaged with questions of caste, gender, family, minority rights, child welfare, disability, and the rights of other vulnerable groups. At the same time, it ventures into contemporary frontiers – digital rights, environmental justice, and labour struggles in a globalised economy – recognising that the challenges of the twenty-first century demand fresh interpretations and inclusive frameworks
Our intent has been to weave together history, legal provisions, judicial precedents, and socio-political realities in a manner that speaks not only to scholars and students of law but also to policymakers, activists, and engaged citizens. Each chapter has been designed to provide depth without losing clarity, theory balanced with practice, and national concerns framed within global discourses.
This book is the product of collective reflection, research, and dialogue.
