About the Authors

Akshat Bajpai, is a counsel based out of Delhi appearing across Courts and Tribunals across the country. His practice areas include commercial disputes, arbitration, white collar crimes, property, insolvency, mining and constitution. He has been an Advocate-on-Record (AoR) at the Supreme Court of India since 2023. Graduating with distinction from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in 2014 he has dedicated his career advocating for justice and navigating complex legal landscapes. His interest in mining law started when he was introduced to the subject in 2013 under Prof. MP Chengappa in 2013. He has rendered legal services for a publicly listed mining company and continues to advise contractors in the said field.

As an experienced legal professional, he has published numerous articles on significant legal issues on LiveLaw, Mondaq India, Wion News, News 18 Hindi and through his column Legal Lens in the Times of India shedding light on critical issues and proposing innovative solutions.

His deep understanding of the legal principles, coupled with a passion for societal impact, has led to his recognition as a leading voice not just before the courts in New Delhi, but in other states as well. Mr. Akshat looks forward to creating a meaningful difference through his active pursuits.

Arnav Mathur, is a 5th Year Law Student, pursuing his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. He has routinely showcased his knowledge and interest of the law, having written for a variety of esteemed law journals and publication houses like Taxmann on issues ranging from constitutional, environmental, privacy, maritime, taxation and other issues.

Mr. Arnav, who is currently pursuing a judicial internship under Hon'ble Ms. Justice Hima Kohli, at the Supreme Court of India, remarks that his experience working under accomplished professionals, at both sides of the bar, has given him much inspiration for this book. His experience working under judges as well as for firms like Karanjawala & Co., Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, Wadhwa Law Chambers etc. has given him a good opportunity for polishing his interest in studying, and analysing, the field of mines and minerals. After discovering the lacunae of an exhaustive work in this field with the help of Mr. Akshat, he set his targets for accomplishing this piece of work.

Mr. Arnav has earned several laurels for his university, such as being adjudged as the Quarterfinalists in Ian Fletcher International Insolvency (2023) and NLS-Trilegal International Arbitration (2022) Moots. Additionally, Mr. Arnav has had the honour of being the problem drafters for his University's Intra Moot Court Competition. He has also been adjudged as the Best Adjudicator in several Debates across the country. He has routinely achieved titles like the Best Oralist, the Best Researcher and Best Memorials in several intra-university competitions. His passion for law coupled with his dedication to making a difference sets him apart as a promising legal scholar and future advocate for justice.
